An Optimistic Mindset In The Face of Adversity

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said,

“This matter will certainly reach every place touched by the night and day. Allāh will not leave a house or residence but that Allāh will cause this religion to enter it, by which the honourable will be honoured and the disgraceful will be disgraced. Allāh will honour the honourable with Islām and he will disgrace the disgraceful with disbelief.”

Musnad Ah‌mad (no. 16957). Classed as Sahīh by Shaykh Al-Albānī in Tahzīr As-Sājid (no. 158).

Reflections:

– Even though in the lifetime of the Prophet Mohammed ﷺ Islām did not reach many parts of the world in totality and the Muslims were battling the enemies of Allāh, he was optimistic in that moment in time while relying on Allāh that Islām would spread to all the corners of the world.

– He is the perfect role model to follow in the way he was always optimistic and positive when it came to the Muslims and the mission.

– There is a major link between optimism and relying on Allāh [Tawakkul] because people of true reliance are optimists. When we know everything is by the decree of Allāh, we have the comfort of knowing there is a greater wisdom for what happens.

– Our Ummah has always faced adversity and we will continue to do so as we struggle to be on the path of Islām. We need to be steadfast, positive, resilient and optimistic on our journey.

– Never lose hope after looking at the dire situation of parts of the Ummah, rather keep working with a positive and optimistic mindset, relying upon the creator of the heavens and Earth, Allāh. Know that victory is only from Allāh, it’s our job to be part of it.

– Remind yourself with what Allāh says, “They (the disbelievers) want to extinguish Allāh’s Light (with which Muhammad ﷺ has been sent – Tawhīd) with their mouths, but Allāh will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the disbelievers hate (it).” 9: 32.

– It is upon us to spread the call of Tawhīd and defend it with our lives. This call of Tawhīd will reach every household no matter how much the enemies of Islām try to stop it.
