6 Ways to control your Anger

‘Ali ibn Talib (r.a) said:

“Beginning of anger is madness and the end of it is regret, and anger cannot be justified by offering a humble apology. Calamities may come because of anger.”

#01 Seeking refuge with Allah from the Shaytaan.

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“If a man gets angry and says,’ I seek refuge with Allah from the shaytaan,’ his anger will go away.”

ref: saheeh al-jammai al-sagheer, no 695

#02 Keeping Silent

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“If any of you becomes angry, let him keep silent “

ref: imaam ahmed, al musnad, 1/329; Saheeh al jaami’, 693,4027

#03 Not Moving

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“If any of you becomes angry and he is standing, let him sit down, so his anger will go away; if it does not go away, let him lie down.”

ref: musnad ahmed. 5/152; see also saheeh al-jaami’, no 694

#04 Following the advice of the Prophet Muhammad

A man said to the Prophet (ﷺ):

“Advice me, “He said:

“Do not become angry.” The man repeated his request several times, and each time the Prophet (ﷺ) told him: “Do not become angry.”

#05 Remembering what Allah has promised

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Do not become angry and Paradise will be yours.”

Ref: shaeeh al-jaami’, 7374, al-fath 4/465

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Whoever controls his anger at the time when he has the means to act upon it, Allah will fill his heart with contentment on the day of Resurrection “

#06 knowing the high and advantages offered to those who control themselves

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“The strong man is not the one who can overpower others(in wrestling); rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself when he gets angry.”

God and His angels bless the Prophet – so, you who believe, bless him too and give him greetings of peace.
[Sūrah Al-Aḥzāb, Verse 56]

innaka ḥamīdun majīd
